They have arrived, more pattern woes and a shout out!

I’ve received the first scarves in the new pattern and they look sharp!

I’ve had a little confusion over the knit pattern.  I want to clear it up. (and I also have a pattern version with each row written out if you’d like me to email it to you).  To make the “V” you do the opposite stitch for the even rows – after the five knit stitches every single row at the beginning and end.  For example Row 1 is K5, P12, K2 , P12, K5, so then, Row 2 is K5, K12, P2, K12, K5.  Then move on to Row 3 and do the opposite for Row 4, just like you did for row 2.  make sense?  I hope so.  Then again, if I had it all figured out from the beginning, I wouldn’t have had as many pleasant exchanges with you all!

I wanted to thank Michelle Edwards for her touching story about her dad on Veterans’ Day.  Here’s a link to her story for those of you who don’t get the Lion Brand weekly e-newsletter: http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/lionbrand/displayCustomerProjects.fcgi?projectKey=36639&displayType=story.

As Michelle says, Knit On!

Could you please send me the pattern version with each row written out

Earlier in November I got the V-for Victory scarf pattern from your site and have now completed my first one, which has floppy borders and a hump at the top of the V. I have read comments from others on these same problems and perhaps I can help with that. For my second scarf, I have made the following changes, which make for a smoother fabric. Bascially, this is a very easy pattern and fun to do. I appreciate the thought and effort of the designer(s).

1. The garter stitch ends flare out, so using a needle 2 sizes smaller will help with that. However, my solution was not only to use a smaller needle, but also to change from garter stitch to seed stitch for the ends and the borders. Remember to change to the larger needles when you finish the five rows at the beginning. When you reach the far end, remember to go back to the smaller needles. This makes the scarf lie very flat, with square ends and without the borders flopping under.

2. The top of the V makes a very bumpy transtion to the stockinette body. On my second scarf, to avoid that, on the last row of the top or cap of the V, I did a seed stitch across each of those 8-stitch sections. Again, this allows the fabric to lie flat, without that hump where the design transtions to the flat stockinette.

I hope these comments help all the knitters out there. This is a great project. One of the women in my Sr. Center knitting class has made at least three scarves to honor her relatives who were in WW II. So I will be naming mine in honor or in memoriam of some of my family members too.

Keep Knitting!! It's good for the brain cells.

Please send me a Knit pattern with all rows written out.

I would very much appreciate the "V for Victory" pattern with all the rows written out.

HI. Could you please email the pattern with each line written out,.. that would be great,, thanks. Robin

I'd also like the F for Victory pattern with the lines written out plus any other tips you have received.

I have had trouble finding the yarn for the striped scarf plus the one I found for the V scarf doesn't seem to be the same color as the one in the picture. Suggestions?

Could you please email me the v-scarf pattern with all the lines written....I cannot open the PDF pattern online. Thank you. Patty

PS: I would also like the written pattern for the striped scarf. Thank you.
